Artefact at Chelsea Harbour Design Centre

Updated: 7 days ago

I'm looking forwards to attending my first show of the year this June where I'll be exhibiting a range of handwoven artwork and cushions in the Form Made From group. Find an excerpt from the exhibition website below with all the details on how and when to visit or visit the website at

Artefact, a new contemporary craft fair, will launch this summer at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, the world’s premier design destination, from 22 – 29 June 2021.

Attracting top designers, architects, collectors, art-lovers and style-seekers, the physical event will feature an impressive rollcall of contemporary craft and visual arts galleries from the vibrant British craft scene. They include Cavaliero Finn, Candida Stevens Gallery, Jaggedart, Katie Jones, madeinbritaly, Ting-Ying Gallery and Vessel Gallery, with more to be announced.

As the world changes at an unprecedented pace, technology can make life more efficient, but often to the detriment of carefully crafted pieces. Artefact is both a marketplace and a celebration of contemporary craft, encouraging visitors to experience the tactility and joy that handmade objects can bring to their lives.

Contemporary craft is increasingly making its mark in the world of interior design, and this curated fair will present a range of objects of astonishing breadth, scope and artistic merit. Museum-quality pieces on show will come from all over the world, and will include works in unusual materials like paper and blanc de chine, as well as representations of stalwart craft disciplines like metalwork, glass, sculpture, textiles and ceramics.

Transforming an idea into reality takes passion, imagination and vision; from cutting-edge innovation to seeing the potential of materials and artisan processes. In-person visits to Artefact will be an opportunity to gain a greater understanding of how one-of-a-kind designs are conceived and made, as well as acquire unique work to cherish for years to come.

Supporting new talent, an experiential feature in collaboration with The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) will showcase craft skills. The charity supports the training and education of talented and aspiring craftspeople. Graduates of the 2019 Crafts Council Hothouse Programme will present Form Made From. Curated by Brian Kennedy, on show will be sculpture, furniture, textiles and ceramics from innovative British artists, dedicated to sustainable and repurposed materials, shapes and processes.

Broadening insights and specialist knowledge, a curated Artefact talks programme will reach out to a global audience.

Timed to coincide with people coming together again, Artefact will be staged in the magnificent Design Avenue. Visitors eager to discover, learn and connect, can meet the gallerists and view in person authentic work from established and emerging artists and makers at this selling exhibition.
