16th August - Natural Dyeing Workshop - Eco Printing and Indigo

Join guest artist Alice Sowa, visiting from Iceland, and Lucy from Arra Textiles and for a hands-on natural dyeing workshop in the new Maryfield studio, just outside Banchory. Together, we’ll explore colour, texture and botanical beauty using eco printing and organic indigo dyeing techniques.
We’ll cover:
- Eco printing and bundle dyeing techniques using seasonal plant materials and food waste
- How to work with natural indigo vats, including fabric resist methods
- Dyeing British wool yarn with organic indigo
You’ll take home your own naturally dyed samples along with a deeper understanding of plant-based colour and have the chance to purchase per-mordanted materials and dye materials to keep exploring at home! Perfect for anyone curious about natural dyes and slow processes.
