Shoreline Wall Art
The "Rockpool//Shoreline" range is a more colourful version of the "Breakwater" design and inspired by the wild seas of Scotland and the rugged landscapes that border it. "Shoreline" is in shades of blue with lichen yellow which blend together to create a warm, coastal colour palette. The fabric has been handwoven in the studio using all natural fibres, sourced, spun and dyed in the UK before being hand framed in oak.
For me, the future of craft is tied to the sustainability and the traceability of the piece as a whole and I try to reflect this ethos with the raw materials for each new design. Each piece of wall art in the new collection is unique, woven using a complex double cloth pattern on the studio loom over the course of a three month period.
Blending heritage techniques with modern technology allows me to create pieces which have a timeless feel with a contemporary twist. I create designs which are more organic and flowing than most traditional fabrics, patterns within patterns which blend colours, shape and tell a story of the sea. The mix of warp shades add visually to the finished fabric, blending to give a depth of texture and movement to the woven pattern.
This collection is available in two sizes with the smaller size of 44cm x 91cm at £650
and the larger of 81cm x 90cm at £1200.
Pieces are available in two sizes and are made to order, they take between 10-14 days to be completed although I do have a few made up in the studio. They are all double sided, framed with oak at the top and bottom and can be hung in a variety of ways with no clear front or back, top or bottom.
