17th April, Morning - Fibre Workshop - Wool Fleece and Hand Spinning

Join me in the Arra Textiles studio for a very special hand spinning workshop. I'll guide you through transforming raw fleece into your own hand-spun yarn.
 
In this workshop, you’ll learn:
 
- How to skirt and clean raw fleece
 
- Hand carding techniques
 
- Spinning with a drop spindle
 
- Creating both single-ply and 2-ply yarn
 
- Blending wool shades and textures for custom effects.
 
- Tips for cleaning, storing and using fleece
 
We'll be working with beautiful raw fleece sourced from a local Ryeland flock and if all goes to plan, we might have Cobweb the sheep joining us at the studio for a visit! Expect plenty of opportunities to connect with the materials, the sheep and place.
 
Each participant will take home their own hand-spun yarn.

Suitable for ages 16 and up. No prior experience necessary. All materials and equipment supplied.
