A Long Weekend of Wool, Natural Colour & Weaving
Join Lucy for a unique long weekend of textile workshops. Across three days, we’ll explore the entire journey from raw fleece to naturally dyed yarns and woven fabric using sustainable, heritage techniques, all in a relaxed studio surrounded by the Scottish countryside.
Whether you’re new to textiles or looking to deepen your skills, this weekend will leave you with hands-on knowledge, creative inspiration, and a beautiful collection of samples to take home.
Friday 17th - Wool Fleece and Hand Spinning
Morning Session from 10am-1pm
- Learn techniques to skirt and clean a raw fleece
- Card and blend fibres by hand
- Spin with a drop spindle
- Create your own single-ply and 2-ply yarn
- Take home your handspun skeins and skills to build on
Saturday 18th - Natural Dyeing from 10am-5pm
Morning - Eco Printing & Indigo
- Explore bundle dyeing and eco printing
- Use resist techniques with an organic indigo vat
- Dye fabric for rich, layered effects
Afternoon: Foraged Dye Baths & Mordanting
- Learn to identify and forage local dye plants
- Prepare dye baths and mordant yarns and fabrics
- Experiment with modifiers to shift and expand the colour palette
Sunday 19th - Weaving Textures & Colour
All Day Weaving Workshop from 10am-3pm
- Work across multiple loom types: rigid heddle, 4-shaft, 8-shaft.
- Explore texture, structure and colour theory in a round-robin format
- Weave on warps pre-prepared with British yarns
- Take home a unique set of fabric samples
This is a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in the full cycle of slow textiles, from raw fleece to handwoven cloth, guided by two experienced textile artists in a creative, hands-on studio in the Scottish Landscape.
