18th April - Sustainable Foraging, Bath Dyeing and Eco Printing
Spend a day at the studio as Lucy from Arra Textiles guides you through traditional dyeing techniques using local plants and foraged materials.
You’ll learn:
- How to safely and sustainably forage for local dye plants
- How you would mordant yarn and fabric for vibrant, lasting colour
- How to create and work with seasonal dye baths
- How to shift and modify colour using iron
- Techniques for dyeing yarn.
- Eco printing and bundle dyeing techniques using seasonal plant materials and food waste
- How to work with natural indigo vats, including fabric resist methods
- Dyeing British wool yarn with organic indigo
You’ll take home naturally dyed samples and a deeper understanding of plant-based colour that you can build on in the future.
£220 per person
10am-6pm
8 hours with breaks for lunch, tea and coffee.
Max. 8 participants.
Suitable for ages 16 and up. No prior experience necessary.
