17th August - Multi Loom Weaving Workshop

Join Lucy from  Arra Textiles and guest artist Alice Sowa in the new studio at Maryfield, Banchory for a unique, weaving workshop sampling textures, structures, patterns and colour.
 
Working on range of looms including rigid heddle, 4 shaft, 8 shaft and 16 shaft table looms, the workshop will work in a round robin style with each weaver getting a chance to use each loom station. 
We’ll work with a range of British yarns with warps prepared and ready for you to experiment with. Working with a number of table loom weaving techniques, structures and colour theories will help each weaver to gain an understanding of basic fabric construction and how each of these factors can alter a design.
Each weaver will go home with a sample from each loom ready to frame or sew into a larger fabric design as well as instructions on how to recreate each.
